I think it could be fun finding which car represents the fictional ships best.
No real restrictions and rules, I think it's best if we just go by the feel of it.

So, thegregorius started with these, original first, car equivalent second:

I think the pod racer equivalent would be those old crazy 60s/70s Can Am race car monsters.

Brutally fast, dangerous, and a wild variety of aerodynamic and powertrain approaches.

Wow, I agree with almost none of those!

For example I would say:

Probably the V6; These are the vehicles that you say to average non-enthusiast "Name me a fast car or a star wars vehicle" and these are what are named. Both are accessible, have been around forever, are are OK all around performers although neither is exceptional outside of their historical bubbles.

Also, I think you did much better than than the original article. I mean that Tie fighter/ Grand national and the R8 choices... WTF?
